Hello and welcome to the first blog post. I am so excited to finally be writing this. It has been a long time coming. I am Erica Wallace, owner and author of So I Read This Novel… Reading is something that I am truly passionate about and this book review blog is something that I have been wanting to do for quite some time. This first blog post is my way of letting you guys get to know me and what you can expect on this blog site.
My Introduction
I was born and raised in the state of North Carolina. I have called NC my home my entire life. I grew up on the coast with the Intracoastal Waterway in my backyard and the Atlantic Ocean 20 minutes away, however I cannot swim. I never learned. I attended North Carolina State University where I got a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. Why math, you ask. Well once I hit high school, mathematics came naturally to me, so easily that I took every one my high school offered. Since it came naturally, why not major in it? After graduation, I stayed in town and went to work for a neighboring county in their revenue department. While working there, I went back to school to get my Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), which took 2 years. I earned a certificate in Finance as well.
After earning the MBA, I went to work for the private sector as an Accounts Payable Specialist. I recently got a new job as a budget analyst, which I am excited about. I own my own home that I tend to renovate from time to time. I have one fur baby named Riley, who is a black lab/pitbull mix. He constantly keeps me on my toes with his antics and stubbornness.
What is this Blog About
I want to give you guys an idea of what to expect from this blog. As you can perhaps tell by the name, this blog will center around novels and my review of them. I must admit that writing is not my strongest suit, so please bear with me. I’m aiming to keep the reviews short. My goal is for me to help people decide which book will be their next to read or even their first to read. No judgment. FYI, sometimes I like to write like I’m talking to my friends. I like to keep it real, to the point, and funny if I can.
I must tell you guys that I tend to gravitate more towards fiction over nonfiction, cozy mysteries and romance over science fiction and thrillers. However, I am trying to branch out into other genres. I just recently started getting into romance and now can’t put them down. So fingers crossed.
I sincerely hope that you enjoy the books I choose and the reviews I give. I am always open to new ideas and opinions that can help me and my blog grow.
Fill your house with stacks of books,
in all the crannies and all the nooks.
